Grounding Practices for Fall and Beyond

As many know, Halloween has always had deeper roots than costumes and candy. It’s a time when the veil between seasons and worlds feels thinner and many of us start to crave more depth of connection and presence towards what’s feeling real in our lives.

You don’t need to be particularly out there to benefit from grounding fall rituals. These practices aren’t magic spells. They’re simply a moment to reconnect with what’s real, simple and nourishing as we adjust to the darker, cooler months ahead.

1. Connect to the Element of Fire

Fire has a presence like no other element. It burns away what no longer serves you. It focuses your attention and energy to one point. It lights you up and brings warmth on these colder days. It represents transformation, release and illumination. So light a candle or start up the wood stove, wrap up in a blanket, and pour yourself a warm mug of cocoa to help you ground into whatever is real for you at this moment. Of course, we recommend pairing a warm fire with Cocoa Moon Ritual as it’s made with reishi, chaga, lion’s mane, and ashwagandha, all adaptogens known for calming the nervous system and supporting immunity.

2. Bathe in Salt

If your body feels tense or heavy, try a salt bath ritual. Light a candle, bring a journal and let your salt bath soak away any stress you’re feeling. There are many different salts: Epsom (containing magnesium sulfate) is one of the most popular for its nervous system calming properties as well as being known to release muscle tension and soreness. You can also try adding magnesium flakes which contain a different spectrum of magnesium (magnesium chloride), for a gentler and still soothing effect. Add a dash of grey celtic sea salt, himalayan or dead sea salt to bring some extra mineral replenishment to your body.

Bonus points if you bring a golden latte into the tub with you!

3. Let Go

The leaves on the trees remind us that letting go is natural and necessary. How do we shed those layers when it’s time for us? Fill a journal with all your grief, your challenges, your frustrations, your pain and your relationships that are no longer serving you. Bring these words to a fire and let them transform into ash as you release the negative energy that’s weighing you down.

The full moon is a great time to do this as it’s at the peak of lunar energy, where everything that’s been building over the past two weeks comes to light. Symbolically, it’s when we see what’s no longer serving us and consciously release it. This is a classic ritual that’s been practiced over the ages. The fire element transforms stuck energy into light and ash, freeing you up for new cycles.

4. Try a Sweet & Spicy Full Moon Tonic

Blend Sunshine in a Cup Spiced Immunity Honey with warm oat milk and hot apple cider. Add a splash of vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste. Sip outside under the moon.

Use this time for simply pausing, rooting, and reclaiming some stillness in a world that asks a lot from us.

5. Celebrate the Simple Magic of Your Body

Even just for a few minutes, allow enough quiet to hear yourself, move slowly (or don’t move at all), and breathe deeply. Stillness is the kind of magic that actually changes things for the better. You always deserve, and never have to earn, moments of reset, to care for your body in the small, seasonal ways that make you actually feel good. Go ahead, turn on do not disturb mode. The rest of the world can wait.
